Varsity Girls beat STATE CHAMPS!!!!!!!!

Half of the gym hung their jaws in shock while the other half were in tears and giving hugs. Coach Bogart was quoted after the game "I don't want to leave the gym." Kate Phelps response, "This is so great for the SENIORS." In the locker room it was non stop screaming for 5 minutes.
After being down 19 to 10 at halftime, Seton reeled off 8 straight points in the first two minutes of the third quarter to open up a 27 to 10 lead. A quick Forks timeout, and Seton did not score another basket for the rest of the quarter. It was SILENT for the next six minutes. Ellie Garbade picked up her first and only foul in the third quarter when she shoved the pesky Becky Foster to the ground. The fourth quarter was dominated by the Blue Devils. Allie Bruet and Michelle Staiger led the charge scoring most of the points. But a huge basket by Kate Phelps, and a beautifully executed OB play led to an Amanda Gee basket which cut it to one point. This sent our fans into a frenzy-the place was just rockin'! With Seton up and going to the line to shoot a one and one, Coach Bogart called for the time out to "ice" the shooter. After the miss, Allie Bruet ripped the board and went coast to coast for the game winner. Our fans held their breath as the ball bounced around the rim and finally dropped with 3. 3 seconds left on the clock. CF 38 Seton 37. Over the last fourteen minutes of play Seton scored 3 Field goals and 3 Free throws.

Bruet's game-winner caps Forks' rally past SCC

From staff reports

Allie Bruet scored a game-high 17 points, including the game-winner with 3.3 seconds left to lift Chenango Forks over host Seton Catholic Central, 38-37, in Saturday's Southern Tier Athletic Conference East Division basketball game.

Ten of Bruet's points and two of her three three-pointers came in the fourth quarter, in which Forks outscored Seton CC, 20-10.

Forks (3-10) trailed 19-10 at halftime which soon ballooned to a 26-10 deficit after a seven-point surge by Seton CC to start the third quarter. Then the Blue Devils clamped down.

"After those quick seven points they did not score for six minutes," Forks coach Andrea Bogart said. "We had them flustered. Then our shots started dropping. The place was silent."

Bogart contrasted this game with the last meeting against Seton CC, where the Saints led, 31-4, at halftime in a romp.

"We took care of the ball," Bogart said. "We only had 12 turnovers the entire game.

''We controlled the boards and attacked the lanes. We were patient, and eventually we got the momentum. We were determined not to get embarrassed this time around. We have a hard-working team and we didn't give up."

Michelle Staiger had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Forks teammate Amanda Gee added five points and 16 rebounds.

Ellie Garbade had nine points and 11 rebounds for Seton CC (10-4). Teammate Allison Curley led the Saints in scoring with 11 points.
