Lady Devils Blue beat JC again!

In the second game against JC in two weeks, the Devils opened up with a 9 to 4 first quarter lead. the atmosphere at CKE was awesome. The night brought two games with our Little Lady Devils playing UE at the same time. The gym was jamming!! Good help defense shut down the JC offense. Brandy Foster and Lexi Baxter were the enforcers inside, Brandy having many clean blocks by keeping her arms up on the shot. Maddie Staiger and Megan Plahanski did a great job setting up the offense, and our wing players Heller, Thatcher, Heath, and Faith did a great job looking inside. Dominique Grasso had the most thrilling shot from 10 ft. that went in and out. Half time score was CF - 13 JC - 6. JC scored the first basket in the second half but the Devils quickly scored two more baskets to push the lead to 9 points. JC finished the game in full court but Maddie Staiger did a nice job breaking the press and setting up the offense. The Lady Devils are now 8 and 4 with 1 game left on the schedule against Harpursville next Thursday at CKE.

Lady Devils White beats Harpursville.

The Lady Devil's White got off to a slow start for the second game in a row, spotting a taller Harpursville team a 6-0 lead Saturday at CF Middle School. The girls settled down midway through the first quarter to tie and eventually go up by 2. The second quarter featured sparkling defense by the Devil's which is fast becoming their trademark. When Harpursville tried to run a spread offense featuring picks, the help defense really shone. Rachel Kenyon & Ashley Williams shut down the wing
penetration and Alex Kelly & Paige Stanton bottled up the inside. A steal at the top of the key and break away bucket by Michaela Transue fired up the home crowd & led the Lady Devils to a comfortable half time lead. The second half featured more strong team defense as Morgan Barrett and Kelsey Brown got into the action. The inside trifecta of Rachael Burns, Alex Kelly & Paige Stanton shut down a much taller Harpursville team Michaela Transue again led the offense with strong
dribble penetration and solid shots. Rachel Kenyon's tough, aggressive play was again on display as she pulled down several offensive rebounds as well as making a nice interiorshot amongst the defense. Kara Smith has stepped into the role ofoutside shooter as she contributed 6 points to the Forks' offensive effort. Final score Forks 35 - Hapursville 17 as The Lady Devil's White rips off their 6th win in a row.

Lady Devils White Win Streak Continues!

The Lady Devil's White win streak looked in serious jeapordy last Thursday night at Windsor when the Black Knights jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Coach Kenyon called a timeout to make some defensive adjustment and the girls responded big time! Rachel Kenyon, Ashley Williams & Kara Smith locked down the outside as Paige Stanton & Rachael Burns shored up the boards. The offense, led by Michaela Transue's scoring pulled the Lady Devils to within 2 at the half. Another offensive highlight was Kara Smith's twist & turn shot while surrounded by 3 defenders. The second half was more of the same as
the strong defensive effort continued by Alex Kelly, Kelsey Brown and Morgan Barrett. Paige Stanton continued her domination on the defensive boards grabbing rebounds after Windsor misses. Rachael Burns' steal & full court fast break ending with a layup ignited the Forks crowd & pumped up the defense as well. Forks left Windsor with their 5th win in a row!

Lady Devil's Blue go 2 and 1 this week!

The Lady Devils opened up the week with Vestal at home Tuesday evening. With the score tied 6 to 6 after the first quarter, the Lady Devils opened up a narrow 10 to 8 halftime lead. Defensive pressure in the third quater by Megan Plahanski and Maddie Staiger up top, and Ashley Biggs, and Brandy Foster inside allowed the Devils to take an 18 to 12 lead after three quarters. The Devils were led in the scoring column by Lexi Baxter, and Maddie Staiger. Other scorers were Brandy Foster, Kerry Heller, Megan Plahanski, and Ashley Biggs. Final score CF Blue 22 Vestal Golden Bears 16.
Game two this week was also at home against ME-Harris. This was the tear jerker of the week, with CF losing their first home game of the year. In an extremely physical game The Devils opened up a 6 to 0 lead after the first quarter. Little did we know we woke up a defensive buzz saw. The Devils only managed to score 6 more points over the next 3 quarters. The bigger and stronger Spartans scored 8 points in the final quarter to go ahead for good. With 3.5 secs left and ME having to go the length of the court, the Lady Devils full court press was on. ME called timeout to set up their pressbreaker. On the first pass Ashley Biggs forced a jump ball and the Devils had the ball under their own basket. After a timeout with 2.3 secs left on the clock a beautifully executed out of bounds play left for a wide open shot. It was not to be, ME 13 CF 12. The disappointed Lady Devils had nothing to be ashamed of, they did everything right-next time will be different! Leading scorer for the game was Brandy Foster. Other scorers were Maddie Staiger, Megan Plahanski, and Lexi Baxter.
Sunday afternoon in Greene the Devils found themselves up against a much bigger, stronger, and older team. Greene jumped to an early 6 to 4 first quarter lead. After some minor defensive adjustments and an 8 point 2nd quarter the Devils had a narrow halftime lead of 12 to 10. The Lady Devils Out of bounds plays were very productive through out the game giving Brandy Foster many opportunities to score at close range. After three quarters CF still held a narrow lead 18 to 14. Great defensive play by Samantha Thatcher, Megan Plahanski, Maddie Staiger, Ashley Biggs, and Brandy Foster allowed a little bit of breathing room in the 4th quarter. The Lady Devils outscored their opponent 9 to 6 in the fourth and handled the full court defense easily. Leading scorer was Brandy Foster, having one of her better games of the year. Other scorers were Ashley Biggs and Megan Plahanski. Final score CF -27 Greene -20. With these two wins this week it leaves the Devils with a record of 7 wins and 4 losses.
